“Some people become cops because they want to make the world a better place. Some people become vandals because they want to make the world a better looking place.”

- Banksy (Renowned graffiti artist)

Graffiti, singularly called graffito is derived from the Italian word ‘graffiato’, which means scratched. It encompasses everything scratched, scribbled, painted or sprayed on walls in public places. This form of art exists today as colourful renditions of our political and social conditions, speaking boldly about the things less heard of or discussed. Apart from all the hard hitting messages put out through graffiti, it adds colourful brilliance to our rather boring concrete jungles.

"There is no invention, there is only discovery."

Graffiti might seem like a new concept to people who have just begun to tune in. However, it dates back all the way to the early Egyptian and Roman Empire. Back in the day graffiti was mainly done by using sharp objects to etch messages and drawings on walls. It has always been the most effective way of communication to reach a mass audience and these concepts are widely being abused by advertisers who do it legally but hideously

Deeper into the alleys

No limits

Artists today use many mediums like spray cans, markers, stickers, stencils and so on. Graffiti done on walls without the owner’s consent is considered as vandalism. It is the most beautiful form of vandalism if you ask me. However, not all graffiti is pleasing to the eyes, some tags(artist signatures) and pieces(elaborate drawings) showcase hardly any skills.

PalmerJSan.., wrote: Its such as you read my mind! You appear to understand so much about this, such as you wrote the e-book in it or something. I feel that you simply could do with a few % to pressure the message house a little bit, but instead of that, that is fantastic blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.
